Each one of the 41 home games on the regular-season schedule should be fun for Blue Jackets fans -- especially considering how long it has been since there's been anything close to a full house in Nationwide Arena because of the pandemic -- but some games always just seem to stand out.
It could be a rivalry. It could be the return of a former player. It could be a holiday. Whatever the reasons, certain games just have a little more juice.
And if you're a Columbus fan, eager to get back into Nationwide and wondering what those games are, have no fear. We looked at the schedule to come up with six games that stand out, with links to tickets available, as part of our countdown to opening night.

Oct. 16 vs. Seattle: It's the first weekend game of the year, and it will be historic as it will be the Blue Jackets' first-ever game against the expansion Kraken. It's also the second game of the season, and while there's always a ton of excitement about opening night, why not be juiced up for this one as well? Weekend nights are always fun in downtown Columbus, and this will be no exception, especially with the Columbus Crew taking on Inter Miami on the same night downtown.
OPENING NIGHT COUNTDOWN: 7 new faces
Nov. 24 vs. Winnipeg: This year, the Blue Jackets play home games on either side of Thanksgiving, and we're circling the Wednesday night contest this year as one fans will want to see. After all, that's one of the most unique days of the year, with people all across the country heading home to see family and friends, so if you're now a displaced Columbus native coming back to the capital city for the holiday, you might want to get your tickets early and spend some time at Nationwide. There will be an interesting cherry on top as Pierre-Luc Dubois will make his first return to Columbus since a trade early last season, while Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic will get the chance to see their former teammates as well.
Dec. 27 vs. Toronto: It feels like the Blue Jackets usually get sent on the road the day after the three-day NHL holiday freeze ends, but this time Columbus will be home two days after Christmas. Not only will the Jackets be playing in Nationwide, they've been given one of the biggest draws of the year by having the popular Maple Leafs come to town. This one should be a sellout, so get your tickets early, especially before the Leafs fans start hoarding tickets.
Feb. 27 vs. Pittsburgh: Games against the Penguins always are circled on the calendar, and while there's a Friday night contest against the Pens scheduled for January, this one could be a sneaky fun experience despite the fact it's on a Sunday night. That's because it will be the first home game after the Winter Olympic break, so there will be some big interest around the sport, and it'll be the first chance to see the team in a month's time. If you're going to get back into the swing of things, you might as well do it against one of the biggest rivals on the schedule.
March 5 vs. Boston: This will be a Saturday night, and the hope is the weather will be starting to turn, so it should be a fun night to head out to the game. But the main draw here will be the Columbus return of Nick Foligno, the former CBJ captain who was traded to Toronto last season and signed with the Bruins this summer. Foligno has never been shy about his love of the Columbus community, and his welcome back should be an emotional moment for someone who represented the union blue so well, not to mention the fans that came to love him over the years.
April 29 vs. Tampa Bay: This is the last game of the regular season, and it comes against a team the Blue Jackets have gotten to know quite well over the past few years, so there's an immediate draw there. But hey, think about this -- say the Blue Jackets are in the midst of a playoff chase, and it all comes down to the final game of the year. Wouldn't you want to be there for that? In other words, you might as well go ahead and get tickets now just in case.
