Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones underwent successful surgery today to repair his injured ankle and is expected to be sidelined approximately eight to 10 weeks, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Greg Bellisari and Dr. Scott Van Aman at Orthopedic One. Jones suffered a sprain and hairline fracture of his ankle in last Saturday's game vs. Colorado.
A three-time All-Star, Jones has collected six goals and 24 assists for 30 points with 20 penalty minutes and a +10 plus/minus rating in 56 games this season, while leading the club and ranking sixth in the NHL in time on ice per game (25:17).
The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Game time from KeyBank Center is 7 p.m. ET.
