The Blue Jackets lost a 2-1 final against Dallas in a shootout on Sunday evening at Nationwide Arena.
Game in a Paragraph
Another tight-checking game between these two teams resulted in a 1-0 Stars lead after both one period and two frames. The Blue Jackets rallied to tie the score in the third before going to a third straight overtime game and second in as many days against Dallas. The game went to the shootout, where Dallas' Alexander Radulov won it to give Columbus three points in the two-game series.

Quote of the Game
Head coach John Tortorella: "I thought late in the second period through the third, I thought those were our best minutes. We end up with four or five scoring chances, we hold them to one in the third period. A pretty even game. I like how we progressed during the game. They score one in the shootout, we don't."

CBJ Recap: Blue Jackets edged by Stars in shootout

Quick Recap
Columbus had a strong start but the ice tilted toward Dallas as the period went on. Both goalies made some big saves early as well, as Dallas' Jake Oettinger turned aside a deflection by David Savard and Korpisalo denied Andrew Cogliano on a good look on a rebound.
But Dallas was able to take a 1-0 lead in the opening frame, with Joe Pavelski scoring at 14:28. The veteran forward who has killed Columbus this year was in the right spot in front, as Joel Kiviranta came out from behind the net and fed Pavelski cutting to the net for a quick redirect past Korpisalo.
Columbus had more chances in the second period but couldn't crack Oettinger, who got a bit lucky when Cam Atkinson stole a puck but ran out of room coming in alone and chipped the shot high. But the Dallas goalie also made a pair of nice stops on Oliver Bjorkstrand thanks to a pass from Seth Jones as well as another denial of Atkinson when set up by Domi on an odd-man rush give-and-go.
But the best save of the period without question was made by Korpisalo, who followed a bit of luck with a 10-bell save. A deflected puck went to Blake Comeau and the former CBJ forward hit the post, with the rebound clanging out to the onrushing Jamie Benn on the right side. But just when the Stars captain thought he had the entire net to shoot at, Korpisalo flung himself back over to his left to smother Benn's shot with his pad and arm to draw a whistle.
The Blue Jackets then finally solved Oettinger with 13:11 to go on a set faceoff play. Roslovic won the draw back to Jones, who set up Werenski for a one-timer from along the right-wing boards, a howitzer that sailed through traffic and got over the Dallas goalie's glove to make it a 1-1 game.
"Yeah, it's always nice when you can score off a draw, off a play you talk about before," Werenski said. "Originally it ws supposed to be won to me and I was supposed to go to Jonesy, but it came back to him and he got it to me. It was kind of reversed a little bit, but it's nice it found its way in and we got a point out of it."
Neither team could find another goal from there in regulation, leading to extra time yet again. Oettinger made a nice ealry stop on Foligno and Dallas hit the post through Benn, then Oettinger stopped Werenski with mere seconds left in OT, leading to a shootout.
In the skills competition, CBJ shooters Atkinson, Patrik Laine and Max Domi all missed the net, while the final shooter, Radulov, put a nifty backhander past Korpisalo to end things.
