The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed right wing Josh Anderson on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 5 and recalled left wing Markus Hannikainen from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Anderson, 25, is day-to-day with an upper body injury suffered on October 5 at Pittsburgh. He registered four penalty minutes in the first two games of the 2019-20 season. The Burlington, Ontario native has collected 64-47-111, 199 penalty minutes and a +31 plus/minus rating in 243 career NHL games. Columbus' fourth round pick, 95th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft, Anderson set career highs with 27-20-47 in 82 games with the Jackets in 2018-19.
Hannikainen, 26, set career highs in 2018-19 with 4-3-7 in 44 games with the Blue Jackets and has registered 8-7-15 and 14 penalty minutes in 91 career games with the club since making his league debut in 2015-16. The Helsinki, Finland native has added 27-34-61, 42 penalty minutes and a +12 plus/minus rating in 117 career AHL contests with the Monsters, including 1-0-1 in two outings in 2019-20. He was originally signed to an entry level contract with Columbus on Apr. 20, 2015.
