Bjorkstrand, 21, has registered four goals and four assists for eight points with four penalty minutes in 15 career NHL games with Columbus, including four penalty minutes in three appearances earlier this season. He also has collected 8-4-12 and six penalty minutes in 19 games with the Monsters in 2016-17.
Selected by Columbus in the third round, 89th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, Bjorkstrand made his pro debut in 2015-16 and tallied 17-12-29 and 10 penalty minutes in 51 games with the Monsters. He added 10-6-16, including an AHL record-tying six game-winning goals, in 17 playoff contests to lead the Monsters to the Calder Cup championship.
A native of Herning, Denmark, Bjorkstrand spent three seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, registering 144-146-290 and 81 penalty minutes in 193 career WHL games from 2012-15. He also represented Denmark at the 2014 and 2015 IIHF World Junior Championships.
