The other big news of the week came Thursday when the Blue Jackets announced that they will retire Rick Nash's No. 61 jersey in March 2022, a no-brainer decision as Nash is the Blue Jackets all-time leading goal scorer and a true Blue Jacket at heart. The announcement was made on ESPN's hockey magazine show The Point.
WELL DESERVED 👏
Rick Nash, the @BlueJacketsNHL all-time leader in goals scored, will have his No. 61 jersey retired in March.
Tributes from former teammates and Blue Jackets like Mike Commodore as well as figures like former CBJ broadcaster George Matthews poured in for the most impactful Blue Jacket in team history.
Folks…a couple days late cause…but I couldn’t be happier to hear about Rick Nash #61 getting sent to its rightful place in Cbus….the rafters!!! Well deserved.
Rick Nash was “the guy” - still is “the guy”- Nash’s success gave Columbus an early NHL identity - strengthening the CBJ branding on the NHL landscape- retirement of number well deserved- as good a guy as a player - congrats to all for making this happen👍👍👌👌👏👏
