Although the NHL trade deadline passed last week, the Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche have come together on a stunning deal that will send rock star CBJ mascot Stinger to the Rocky Mountains in exchange for Avs mascot Bernie.
Per terms of the deal, the Blue Jackets will also send a gatling gun to Colorado in exchange for a package that includes Lil' Bern as well as a 2027 seventh-round draft pick.

Reached for comment, Stinger threw his hands up in the air but said nothing because of the inability to talk.
Introduced as a logo in November 1997 when the fledgling organization announced its name and colors, and debuted in mascot form July 3, 1999, Stinger has been a key part of the first 21 seasons of Blue Jackets hockey.
Literally, the "bug with an attitude" has represented CBJ hockey longer than any player, having been a part of the organization before the first Blue Jacket was signed.
For followers of the team, it will surely be a shock, as Stinger has essentially been there from day one.
One of the top mascots in the league and a perennial representative of the organization at the league's All-Star festivities, Stinger has been known since early days as a tireless promotor of Blue Jackets hockey. Whether it be at a community event, charity function or a celebration of any kind, Stinger could always be counted on to engage with fans and spread joy.
On the other hand, Bernie should be a tremendous addition to the Blue Jackets family, having served as the Avs mascot since 2009.
Looked at as an up-and-comer on the mascot scene, Bernie is a St. Bernard from Summit County, Colorado, who has become a fan favorite despite a propensity for lots and lots of drooling.
Should fans be looking for a scouting report, Bernie is known for a tremendous ability to dance, a dedication to supporting the team and providing a friendly canine face for fans to enjoy.
Despite how weird all of this sounds, it should allow each organization to fill a need, with the Blue Jackets adding a younger mascot face and Stinger providing a veteran presence for the Avs.
An introductory press conference for Bernie will be held at a later date, but much like Stinger, Bernie also cannot talk.
