Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced three roster moves today that places the current training camp roster at 34 players. The current roster includes 19 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders.
The Blue Jackets placed defenseman Dillon Simpson on waivers for purpose of assignment to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate. In addition, Columbus has assigned goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks to Cleveland and released goaltender Brad Thiessen from his pro tryout contract. Thiessen is slated to report to the Monsters.
Columbus, 2-1-0 in preseason play, returns to action this afternoon when it visits the St. Louis Blues. Game time from Enterprise Center is 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan.
The Blue Jackets open their 19th regular season vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday, October 4. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
