The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for left wing Gustav Nyquist, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The pick originally belonged to the Boston Bruins.

"Gustav Nyquist is a first-class person, who brought great professionalism, leadership and commitment to our organization both on and off the ice over the last five years," said Kekalainen. "We wish he and his wife, Danielle, and their family all the best in the future."
Nyquist, 33, has registered 174 goals and 249 assists for 423 points with 186 penalty minutes, 41 power play goals, seven shorthanded goals, 25 game-winning goals and 1,526 shots in 700 career games with the Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings since making his NHL debut in 2011-12. He signed as a free agent with Columbus on July 1, 2019 and recorded 43-74-117, 58 PIM, seven PPG, seven SHG and 370 shots in 200 contests, including 10-12-22 and 16 PIM in 48 appearances in 2022-23. The 5-11, 180-pound native of Halmstad, Sweden was originally drafted by Detroit in the fourth round, 121st overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Game time from KeyBank Center is 7:30 p.m. ET.
