COLUMBUS, OHIO -The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired left wing Lauri Korpikoski from the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Dillon Heatherington, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Korpikoski, 30, has tallied 86 goals and 115 assists for 201 points with 132 penalty minutes and 14:32 Time On Ice average in 600 career NHL games with the Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers. He has added 2-3-5 with six penalty minutes in 30 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. The 6-1, 193-pound forward has registered 8-12-20 with 10 penalty minutes, a +5 plus/minus rating and logged 13:01 TOI in 60 games in his first campaign with Dallas this season.
The Turku, Finland native was selected by the Rangers in the first round, 19th overall, at the 2004 NHL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Rangers organization, posting 6-8-14 and 14 penalty minutes in 68 games in his NHL rookie season in 2008-09 campaign. Acquired by the Coyotes in a trade on July 13, 2009, he spent the next six seasons with the club, posting career highs in goals, assists, points and plus/minus with 19-21-40 and was +17 in 79 games in 2010-11. He notched 10-12-22 and 10 penalty minutes in 71 games in his lone season in Edmonton in 2015-16.
