The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Alexandre Texier in the National Hockey League's COVID-19 protocol and assigned defenseman Jake Christiansen to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Texier, 22, has notched 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points with six penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 30 contests this season. He ranks second on the team in goals and plus/minus rating and fifth in points. The Saint-Martin-d'Heres, France native leads Columbus in goals and points since November 6 with 9-8-17 and is +6 in 21 appearances. Selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round, 45th overall, the 6-1, 186-pound forward has registered 22-26-48 and 38 penalty minutes in 117 contests since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Christiansen, 22, made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets on Thursday at New Jersey and collected a shot and two blocked shots on 12:46 of ice time. Signed to a three-year, entry level contract with Columbus on Mar. 4, 2020, he has tallied 5-13-18 with 17 penalty minutes, 62 shots and a +4 plus/minus rating in 21 appearances with Cleveland this season. He ranks third-T among AHL blueliners in points, fourth in shots, fifth-T in goals and seventh-T in assists.
The 6-0, 186-pound defenseman has recorded 8-25-33 and 31 penalty minutes in 58 career AHL games with the Monsters and Stockton Heat since making his pro debut in 2019-20. A native of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Christiansen totaled 50-102-152, 114 penalty minutes, 18 power play goals and a cumulative +84 plus/minus rating in 297 career games with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League from 2015-20.
