Tarasov, 22, has missed the past 20 games since suffering the injury during the Blue Jackets' January 1 game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He appeared in four games with Columbus this season, including three starts, and sported a 0-2-0 record with a 2.40 goals-against average and .937 save percentage as he turned aside 104-of-111 shots-against.
"Our first course of action following Daniil's injury was to try rehabilitation. Unfortunately, his hip did not progress like we had hoped and our medical team recently determined that surgery was the best course of action with his long-term career in mind," said Kekalainen. "Today's surgery went well and we expect him to make a full recovery and be ready to go for the start of next season."
The Novokuznetsk, Russia native was selected by the Blue Jackets in the third round, 86th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft. He has posted a 9-5-3 record with a 3.09 GAA and .894 SV% in 17 games with the Cleveland Monsters since making his American Hockey League debut at the end of the 2020-21 season. He went 5-3-3 with a 3.06 GAA and .893 SV% in 11 appearances this season, winning five-straight games and posting a 2.18 GAA and. 920 SV% from November 12-26.
