"This is an injury that Joonas has been dealing with for some time and it has now gotten to the point where surgery is the best option," said Kekalainen. "We are disappointed for him as he has worked extremely hard to be able to play, but this is the best course of action."
Korpisalo, 27, has registered a 76-67-21 record with a 3.04 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and three shutouts in 182 career regular season games and a 3-5 mark with a 1.90 GAA, .941 SV% and two shutouts in nine career outings in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Columbus since making his NHL debut in 2015-16. A native of Pori, Finland, he is 7-11-0 record with a 4.15 GAA and .877 SV% in 22 appearances with the Blue Jackets this season. The 6-3, 193-pound netminder was selected by the club in the third round, 62nd overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.
