The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Adam Boqvist on Injured Reserve and recalled defenseman David Jiricek from the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Boqvist, 22, suffered a broken foot in Tuesday's game vs. the Arizona Coyotes and is expected to miss six weeks. He has collected three shots while averaging 15:56 of ice time in four games this season.
A native of Falun, Sweden, Boqvist has registered 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points with 32 penalty minutes, four power play goals and 156 shots in 132 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks since being selected by Chicago in the first round, eighth overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft. The 6-0, 182-pound blueliner was acquired via trade on July 23, 2021 and set career highs with 11-11-22 in 52 outings a year ago.
Jiricek (pronounced (YIHR-ih-chehk) has collected 0-4-4 with two penalty minutes, 12 shots and a +2 plus/minus rating in five games with the Monsters this season. The 18-year-old leads AHL rookie blueliners in assists and points (tied) and all Cleveland blueliners in assists, points and shots. He made his North American pro debut on October 14 against the Syracuse Crunch and has picked up assists in in three-straight games from October 21-23.
The Klatovy, Czechia native was selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, sixth overall, at the 2022 NHL Draft. He totaled 8-12-20 with 85 penalty minutes and a cumulative +14 rating in 67 career outings with HC Plzen of the Czechia Hockey League from 2019-22. He collected 5-6-11 with 49 penalty minutes and an "even" plus/minus rating in 29 games with HC Plzen (Czechia) in 2021-22. He also represented Czechia at the 2022 IIHF World Championships and 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships.
