The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Gustav Nyquist on Injured Reserve and claimed center Lane Pederson off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Nyquist, 33, suffered an upper body injury while playing in his 700th career NHL game in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win at Edmonton and is out indefinitely. He has recorded 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points with 16 penalty minutes, two shorthanded goals and two game-winning goals, while averaging 17:48 of ice time in 48 appearances with the Blue Jackets this season.
The 5-11, 180-pound native of Halmstad, Sweden has notched 174-249-423 with 186 penalty minutes, seven shorthanded goals and 25 game-winning goals in 700 career games with the Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings since making his NHL debut in 2011-12. Originally drafted by Detroit in the fourth round, 121st overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft, he signed as a free agent with Columbus on July 1, 2019.
Pederson, 25, has collected 1-2-3 with 15 penalty minutes, 15 shots and a +3 plus/minus rating, while averaging 12:50 of ice time in 11 appearances with the Canucks in 2022-23. He registered a shot on 10:58 TOI in Friday's game against the Blue Jackets. The forward has posted 2-6-8, 27 PIM and 54 shots in 55 career games with the Canucks, San Jose Sharks and Arizona Coyotes since making his NHL debut in 2020-21. He was originally signed by Arizona to a three-year, entry level contract on Oct. 13, 2016.
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Pederson has added 17-7-24 and 22 PIM in 22 outings split between the Chicago Wolves and Abbotsford Canucks in the American Hockey League in 2022-23. He has totaled 84-82-166 and 130 PIM in 227 career games over six AHL seasons with the Canucks, Wolves, San Jose Barracuda and Tucson Roadrunners since making his professional debut in 2017-18. The 6-0, 192-pound center totaled 53-87-140 and 104 PIM in 199 career games with the Swift Current Broncos, Red Deer Rebels and Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League from 2013-17.
