The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Jake Christiansen from the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate and assigned defenseman David Jiricek to Cleveland, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Christiansen, 23, recorded one goal and an +1 plus/minus rating with four shots in eight games for Columbus in 2021-22, including making his NHL debut on Jan. 6, 2022 against New Jersey. He posted his first career NHL goal on Mar. 1, 2022 against the Devils.
A native of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Christiansen has collected 0-4-4 with two penalty minutes and 26 shots in 11 games with the Monsters in 2022-23. The 6-0, 193-pound defenseman has registered 16-48-64 with 49 penalty minutes, five powerplay goals and 267 shots in his AHL career with the Monsters and Stockton Heat since making his pro debut in 2019-20. Last season, he was named to the AHL's Second All-Star Team after setting career highs with 13-32-45 in 62 contests with Cleveland. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Columbus on Mar. 4, 2020.
Jiricek has recorded four shots, five hits and four blocked shots, while averaging 15:30 of ice time in two games. He became the second youngest defenseman to make his NHL debut in franchise history (Rostislav Klesla; 18-years, 200-days on Oct. 7, 2000 vs. Chicago) when he suited up against Boston on October 28 at 18-years, 334-days. The 6-4, 199-pound native of Klatovy, Czechia has added 0-4-4 with two penalty minutes, 12 shots and a +2 plus/minus rating in five games with the Monsters this season. He was selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, sixth overall, at the 2022 NHL Draft.
