The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed restricted free agent center Josh Dunne to a one-year, two-way National Hockey League/American Hockey League contract extension for the 2022-23 season, club general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Dunne, 23, who was signed to a two-year entry level contract by the Blue Jackets on Mar. 14, 2021, made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets on Apr. 15, 2021 at Dallas and registered four penalty minutes and seven shots on goal in six games for the club in 2020-21. He has added 14-7-21 with 53 PIM, six PPG and 82 shots in 44 career AHL games over the past two seasons with the Cleveland Monsters. In 2021-22, he recorded 6-5-11 with 39 penalty minutes, four power play goals and 51 shots in 29 outings for the Monsters.
A 6-4, 204-pound forward, Dunne posted 29-26-55 with 70 PIM and a cumulative +24 plus/minus rating in 78 career NCAA games at Clarkson University from 2018-21. Serving as the Golden Knights' captain during his junior campaign in 2020-21, he collected 2-3-5, 26 PIM and was +1 in 14 outings. He was also a Third Team All-ECAC pick and won the league's Best Defensive Forward Award in 2019-20 when he tallied 13-14-27 with 30 PIM and a +9 plus/minus rating in 32 outings.
The O'Fallon, Missouri, native played three-plus seasons in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers from 2015-18. He registered 34-40-74, 91 PIM and was +16 in 140 career USHL games, including 21-27-48 and 18 PIM in 60 outings in 2017-18. His sister, Jincy, helped the United States claim silver at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and was a two-time All-American at Ohio State University from 2016-20. Another sister, Jessica, played three seasons for the Buckeyes from 2014-17.
