Meyer, 24, was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round, 179th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut in 2021-22 and posted one goal and two assists for three points with six penalty minutes, 13 shots on goal and 27 hits in 13 games with the club. He skated in his first NHL game on April 4 vs. Boston and recorded his first two career points, including his first goal, the following night at Philadelphia. The Powell, Ohio native is the fourth homegrown player to appear in a game with Columbus in franchise history, joining Kole Sherwood, Jack Roslovic and Sean Kuraly.
The 5-11, 184-pound forward spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Monsters, ranking eighth-T in the AHL in shorthanded goals as well as leading the Monsters in goals (tied) and SHG with 16-11-27, 63 PIM, three SHG and 130 shots in 57 appearances. He has tallied 25-22-47, 76 PIM, seven power play goals, three SHG and 199 shots in 83 career AHL outings since making his professional debut in 2020-21.
A graduate of the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets program, Meyer registered 42-47-89 and 114 PIM in 137 career NCAA games at Miami University and The Ohio State University from 2016-20. As a senior with the Buckeyes in 2019-20, he set career highs in goals, points and plus/minus rating as he collected 17-14-31 with 26 PIM and a +8 plus/minus rating in 35 outings.
