COLUMBUS, OHIO -The Columbus Blue Jackets and National Hockey League announced today a 2018-19 regular season schedule in which the club will play 82 games, including 41 home dates at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets will kick off their 18th NHL season on Thursday, October 4 against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena, marking the sixth time in club history and first since 2014-15 that the club will open the season on the road. Columbus will play its home-opener the following night on Friday, October 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. This season's schedule will see the Blue Jackets play every team in the NHL at least once at home and once on the road. Columbus will play Metropolitan Division teams a total of 28 times, including 14 games at Nationwide Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals will each visit Nationwide Arena twice. The Blue Jackets will face members of the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division 24 times, including 12 at home. The club will play two home games each against the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, while hosting the Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning one time each. Also this season, the Jackets will play both of their road contests against the New York Islanders at NYCB Live: Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Overall, the Blue Jackets will play their 82 games over 185 days with 51 games slated for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, including nine Thursday home games, five Friday home contests and nine Saturday home games at Nationwide Arena. Columbus will also play 18 times on Tuesday nights, including 13 games at home. March is the club's busiest month with 16 contests, followed by November and December with 14 games each. Columbus will play a season-high six consecutive home games against the Capitals, Canucks, Kings, Ducks, Golden Knights and Devils from December 8-20, while playing a season-high four straight road games at Boston, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver from Mar. 16-24. The club will have nine days off between Jan. 20-28, including the League-mandated five-day break and All-Star Weekend, which is set for January 25-26 in San Jose.
