The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Ryan Murray off Injured Reserve and placed defenseman Scott Harrington on Injured Reserve retroactive to September 28, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced.

Murray, 25, had suffered a lower body injury in the club's preseason game on September 18 vs. Chicago. He collected a goal and 11 assists for 12 points with eight penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 44 games with the Blue Jackets in 2017-18. The Regina, Saskatchewan native has registered 12-60-72, 90 penalty minutes and is +2 in 264 career NHL games since being selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, second overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
Harrington, 25, is day-to-day with an upper body injury suffered in a preseason game on September 28 vs. Pittsburgh. He tallied career highs in goals, assists, points and games played in 2017-18 with 2-3-5, eight penalty minutes and an "even" plus/minus rating in 32 games with the Jackets. The native of Kingston, Ontario has posted 3-6-9 and 26 penalty minutes in 79 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh's second round selection, 54th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, the blueliner was acquired in a trade by Columbus from Toronto on June 25, 2016.
