COLUMBUS, OHIO ---The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Alex Wennberg off injured reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Wennberg suffered a back injury on December 21 at Pittsburgh and has missed the past eight games.
Wennberg, 23, has recorded four goals and 12 assists for 16 points with eight penalty minutes and a +7 plus/minus rating in 30 games this season. He is tied for second on the team in plus/minus rating, fourth in assists and collected 3-3-6 and was +3 in the last eight contests before being sidelined.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Wennberg has registered 29-106-135 and 53 penalty minutes in 247 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. He notched career highs with 13-46-59, 21 penalty minutes and was +9 in 80 games in 2016-17, leading the club in assists and multi-point games (14, tied) and finishing second in points. He was selected by Columbus in the first round, 14th overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft.
The Blue Jackets return to action Thursday when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Game time from KeyBank Center is 7 p.m. ET.
