The 5-8, 165-pound center was selected by Columbus in the third round, 66th overall, at the 2011 NHL Draft. He has posted 26-98-124, 116 penalty minutes and a cumulative +11 plus/minus rating in 209 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons. He notched a career-high 13-35-48 in 75 games with Springfield in 2014-15 and had 6-40-46 in 76 games with the Monsters in 2015-16. He added 1-5-6 in 17 playoff games to help the club win the 2016 Calder Cup championship.
The Orland Park, Illinois native played four seasons at Notre Dame from 2010-14. After being named the CCHA Rookie of the Year and helping the Fighting Irish reach the NCAA Frozen Four in 2010-11 when he racked up 23-31-54 in 44 games, he was named First Team All-CCHA in 2011-12 and was the CCHA Tournament Most Valuable Player 2012-13. Tynan led the Irish in scoring again as a senior in 2013-14 with 8-30-38 in 40 games to finish his career among the school's all-time leaders in points, assists and games played with 54-107-161 and 132 penalty minutes in 164 career outings. He also represented the United States at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships, collecting 1-3-4 in six games.
