Best Sled hockey at Winter Park

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Blue Jackets join USA Hockey in celebrating Hockey Week Across America with a host of activities including multiple clinics at Blue Jackets Winter Park, presented by Worthington Industries, and USA Hockey Night at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, February 25 when the Blue Jackets host the New York Islanders. In honor of its 10th anniversary, the usual Hockey Weekend Across America has been expanded to a week-long celebration of the sport. Outdoor events are subject to change pending weather and ice conditions.

Tuesday, February 21- Try Sled Hockey at Blue Jackets Winter Park at McFerson Commons
6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Blue Jackets alumni Fredrik Modin, Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre and Martin Spanhel will participate in a sled hockey scrimmage with Ohio Sled Hockey and the Ohio Warriors team of disabled veterans. Following the scrimmage, Ohio Sled Hockey invites anyone who is interested to try the adapted sport. There will be sleds available to accommodate adults and children.

- Try Hockey for Free
- Boys and girls ages 4-9 that have never had a chance to try hockey are invited to lace up the skates at more than 350 participating rinks across the country, with 15 host sites in Ohio.

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Blue Jackets Winter Park - The Blue Jackets welcome new players with a "try hockey" clinic where kids will receive on-ice instruction from Blue Jackets alumni Jody Shelley, Andrew Cassels and Martin Spanhel along with Blue Jackets Assistant Coach Kenny McCudden. Helmets and rental skates will be available. OhioHealth Easton Chiller and OhioHealth Chiller North are also offering free clinics that day.

5:00 p.m. - USA Hockey Night at Blue Jackets vs. New York Islanders game - The evening will highlight and celebrate the range of diverse hockey programs across Ohio.

Sunday, February 26- Youth Clinic at Blue Jackets Winter Park 9-10 a.m. - Blue Jackets alumni Andrew Cassels and Martin Spanhel will offer on-ice instruction during a skill development clinic for kids ages 7 to 10-years-old who have played some hockey. The clinic will focus on skill stations and small area games. The $50 registration fee includes the 60-minute instructional session, a USA Hockey jersey and a pair of tickets to the Feb. 25 Blue Jackets game.
