COLUMBUS, OHIO ---The Columbus Blue Jackets have added defenseman Gabriel Carlsson to the roster on emergency recall and assigned forward Markus Hannikainen to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Carlsson, 20, has recorded an assist in eight games with the Blue Jackets in 2017-18 and has tallied 0-2-2 in 10 career regular season games since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 season. He also appeared in five Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2017.
The Orebro, Sweden native has collected 0-1-1, six penalty minutes and is +1 in seven career AHL games, including four penalty minutes in four outings with the Monsters this season. He was Columbus' second first round pick, 29th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Hannikainen, 24, has collected 2-2-4 and two penalty minutes with a +1 plus/minus rating in 12 games with the Blue Jackets in 2017-18 and 3-3-6 and eight penalty minutes in 26 career NHL games. He also has tallied 0-1-1, +1 in three games with Cleveland this season and has registered 26-32-58 and 42 penalty minutes in 110 career AHL games with Lake Erie/Cleveland over the past three campaigns. The Helsinki, Finland native was signed as a free agent by the Blue Jackets in April 2015.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
