The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed right wing Mathieu Olivier to a two-year, $2.2 million contract extension through the 2024-25 National Hockey League season, club general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Olivier, 26, has registered eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points with 169 penalty minutes and 111 shots on goal, while averaging 11:01 of ice time in 114 career games with the Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators since making his NHL debut in 2019-20. He set single-season career highs in goals, assists, points and games played with 5-10-15 with 81 PIM and 75 shots on goal in 66 games in his first season with the Blue Jackets in 2022-23. Originally signed to a two-year, entry level contract with Nashville on May 1, 2019, he was acquired by Columbus for a 2022 fourth-round on June 30, 2022.

"Mathieu's work ethic and dedication are tremendous and he has become a valuable contributor to our organization on and off the ice," said Kekalainen. "He brings size, physicality and character to our lineup and we are excited that he will continue to be part of the Blue Jackets family."

The 6-1, 217-pound forward has collected 19-23-42 and 262 penalty minutes in 156 career American Hockey League contests with the Milwaukee Admirals since making his professional debut in 2018-19. He recorded 75-plus PIM in each of his AHL three seasons, including 5-6-11 and 76 PIM in 46 outings in 2021-22.

Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, Olivier racked up 59-71-130, 390 penalty minutes and a cumulative +27 plus/minus rating in 300 career games with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, Shawinigan Cataractes and Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2013-18. He registered 80-plus penalty minutes in each of his final three campaigns and set career highs in goals, assists and points with 27-22-49 and 90 PIM in 67 games with Sherbrooke in 2017-18.
