The Columbus Blue Jackets begin preparations for their 21st National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp, presented by OhioHealth, on Wednesday, September 22. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine, Sport and Joint Center beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday with fitness testing to follow at Ohio State University. Media availability will begin following the first day of on ice activities on Thursday, September 23. The team will conduct the first team on-ice practices on Thursday, September 23 at Nationwide Arena with the first scrimmages slated for Friday, September 24 at Nationwide Arena and OhioHealth Ice Haus. Three groups will take part in practice and scrimmages between 9 a.m.-2:40 p.m. All team practices and scrimmages held in the OhioHealth Ice Haus (see full schedule below) will be open to the public.
The training camp roster consists of 67 players (38 forwards, 22 defensemen, seven goaltenders). The players will be divided into three groups for all sessions from September 23-29. The Blue Jackets open their eight-game preseason schedule with games on three consecutive days from September 27-29. The club visits the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Monday, September 27 before hosting the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, September 28 and St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, September 29. Columbus opens the regular season at Nationwide Arena against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, October 14 (7 p.m.).
Media Availability - Practices: Members of the hockey operations staff and Head Coach Brad Larsen will be available following the final practice session each day. All players will be available following their final scheduled workout of the day. The club will hold media availability in the press conference room during training camp. … Preseason Games: The Blue Jackets will conduct in-person and zoom media availability following each game in the press conference room, located on event level at Nationwide Arena. Interviews with select players and the head coach for that game will begin approximately five minutes after the conclusion of the game.

Season Credentials - Media receiving Blue Jackets credentials for the 2021-22 season are now available for pickup. The credentials will also be available during home preseason and regular season games and can be collected at the Big Lots Box Office Entrance, located on the south side of the arena near Tim Hortons and John H. McConnell Drive. The Media Entrance will be open two and a half hours prior to game time.
