The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced today that Blue Jackets prospect and Halifax Mooseheads forward Jordan Dumais has been named the recipient of the 2022-23 Michel-Brière Trophy, which is awarded annually to the player who is deemed to be the Most Valuable Player in the league. Dumais was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the third-round, 96th overall, at the 2022 NHL Draft.

Dumais, 19, registered 54 goals and 86 assists for 140 points with six penalty minutes, 19 power play goals, 12 game-winning goals, 220 shots on goal and a +54 plus/minus rating in 64 games for Halifax in the QMJHL this season. He led the league in points, assists, game-winning goals and points-per-game (2.19) and ranked second in power play goals and third in goals. The 5-8, 169-pound winger started the season with an 11-game points streak (12-15-27) and recorded 42 multi-point outings, including nine games with four or more points.

A native of Ile Bizard, Quebec, Dumais has totaled 103-175-278, 32 PIM, 37 PPG, 17 GWG, 452 shots on goal and a cumulative +53 plus/minus rating in 172 career games with the Mooseheads since making his QMHL debut in 2020-21. He registered 39-70-109, 15 PPG and 182 shots in 68 contests with the club in 2021-22, finishing tied for the league lead in assists and ranking third in points and eighth-T in PPG. He was named the 2022 CHL's Sportsman of the Year, the QMJHL Most Sportsmanlike Player and to the QMHL Second All-Star Team.
