CBJ team update new look

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Patrik Laine on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 20 and have recalled forward Dmitri Voronkov from the Cleveland Monsters, the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Laine, 25, is day-to-day with an upper body injury suffered in last Friday’s 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames.  He has registered one goal and one assist for two points with nine shots on goal, while averaging 17:02 of ice time in four games with the Blue Jackets this season.  A native of Tampere, Finland, he has posted 199-182-381 with 179 penalty minutes, 69 power play goals and 1,358 shots on goal in 466 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets since being selected second overall by Winnipeg at the 2016 NHL Draft.  The 6-5, 215-pound forward has totaled 59-72-131 with 17 PPG and 439 shots on goal, while averaging 18:30 of ice time in 160 career games with the Blue Jackets since being acquired in a trade from the Jets on Jan. 23, 2021.

Voronkov (voh-RAWN-kahv) has recorded 0-1-1 with two penalty minutes and four shots on goal in four games with the Monsters this season.  The 23-year-old made his AHL debut with Cleveland at Laval on October 14 and collected his first point with an assist one day later at Hershey.

A 6-5, 240-pound forward, Voronkov posted 37-37-74 with 157 penalty minutes, 263 shots on goal and a cumulative +57 plus/minus rating in 182 career games with AK Bars Kazan in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League from 2018-23.  He collected 18-13-31 with 51 penalty minutes and seven power play goals with AK Bars Kazan in 2022-23, ranking third on the club in goals and fourth in PIM.  The native of Angarsk, Russia was selected by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round, 114th overall, at the 2019 NHL Draft.
