COLUMBUS, OHIO ---The Columbus Blue have assigned defenseman Gabriel Carlsson, left wing Sonny Milano and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate and recalled goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Carlsson, 20, has recorded an assist in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season and has posted 0-2-2 in 10 career games since making his NHL debut at the end of last season. The Orebro, Sweden native also made his AHL debut in 2016-17, recording 0-1-1 in three games with the Monsters. Columbus' second first round pick, 29th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft, he collected 3-12-15 and was +15 in 92 career Swedish Hockey League games with Linkoping from 2014-17, including 2-2-4, six penalty minutes and a +8 plus/minus rating in 40 games in 2016-17.

Milano, 22, has notched 5-3-8 with four penalty minutes in 17 games with Columbus this season. He has recorded 5-4-9 and four penalty minutes in 24 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. He has added 32-51-83 in 127 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons since making his pro debut at the end of the 2014-15 campaign. The Massapequa, New York native was the club's first round pick, 16th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Korpisalo, 23, has gone 1-3-0 with a 3.28 goals-against average and .896 save percentage this season and is 24-19-5 with a 2.73 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 49 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. He has also gone 15-16-5 with a 2.57 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 37 career AHL games with the Monsters. In 2016-17, the Pori, Finland native went 7-5-1 with a 2.88 GAA and .905 SV% in 14 games with Columbus and was 7-6-3 with a 2.69 GAA and .907 SV% in 16 games with Cleveland. He was Columbus' third round pick, 62nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
Kivlenieks, 21, is 2-3-1 with a 2.64 GAA and .896 SV% in six games with the Monsters in his first professional season. He made his AHL debut on Oct. 15 at Manitoba, stopping 31 saves in a 4-1 loss and collected his first pro win with 20 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory on Nov. 3 at Tucson. Last season, he captured the USHL's Player and Goaltender of the Year awards after going 36-7-6 with a 1.85 GAA and .932 SV% in 49 games to help Sioux City capture the Anderson Cup (regular season champions), leading the league in wins, GAA, SV% and shutouts (five, tied). The Riga, Latvia native was signed by Columbus to a three-year, entry level contract on May 25, 2017.
