The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Ryan Murray on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Murray, 25, is out indefinitely after suffering an upper body injury on Monday vs. Tampa Bay. He has set single season career highs in assists and points with a goal and 28 assists for 29 points with 10 penalty minutes and a +20 plus/minus rating in 56 games this season. He leads the Blue Jackets in plus/minus and ranks second among club defensemen in assists and third in points.
The native of Regina, Saskatchewan has recorded 13-88-101 with 100 penalty minutes and a +22 plus/minus rating in 320 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. The 6-1, 205-pound blueliner was selected by Columbus in the first round, second overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Ottawa Senators. Game time from Canadian Tire Centre is 7:00 p.m. ET.
