Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been named the National Hockey League's Third Star of the Week for the period ending February 24, the league and club announced today. Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov was named the First Star while Colorado Avalanche netminder Semyon Varlamov was selected as the Second Star. It marks the eighth time in his career he has earned a Star of the Week accolade, most recently being named the Second Star of the Week for Nov. 27-Dec. 3, 2017.
Bobrovsky, 30, went 2-1-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, .962 save percentage and two shutouts in three games last week, stopping 77-of-80 shots faced. He made 29 saves in a 3-2 loss at Montreal on Feb. 19 before posting shutouts in back-to-back games on consecutive nights on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23. He made 22 saves in a 3-0 shutout at Ottawa on Feb. 22 and turned aside 26 shots in a 4-0 home victory over San Jose on Feb. 23. It marked the first time in Blue Jackets history that a netminder recorded shutouts on back-to-back days.

The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has posted a 26-18-1 record with a 2.75 GAA, .908 SV% and five shutouts in 45 games this season, including going 7-2-0 with a 1.79 GAA, .937 SV% and three shutouts in nine outings since Feb. 5. He has registered a 244-147-37 record with a 2.47 GAA, .919 SV% and 29 shutouts in 440 career appearances with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers and captured the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's best netminder in 2012-13 and 2016-17. Acquired in a trade from the Flyers on June 22, 2012, Bobrovsky owns CBJ franchise records with a 202-124-27 record, 2.42 GAA, .921 SV% and 29 shutouts in 357 games played.
