Jones, Korpisalo selected for 2020 Honda All-Star Game

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo were among 36 players selected to participate in the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game® at the Enterprise, Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, January 25, the League and club announced today. In addition, forward Nick Foligno was named as one of 31 candidates on the 2020 NHL All-Star Last Man In presented by adidas, giving fans the ability to vote for the final player on each All-Star roster for this year's event.

Jones, 25, has registered four goals and 18 assists for 22 points with 18 penalty minutes and an "even" plus/minus rating in 39 games this season. He leads the team in assists and ranks fourth in points and shots (92), while leading CBJ blueliners in assists, points and shots and ranking second-T in goals. He also ranks fifth in the NHL in time on ice (25:26). This year marks the fourth-straight that the Arlington, Texas native has been selected to appear in the All-Star Game. The 6-4, 209-pound blueliner scored two goals and was +4 in two games for the Metropolitan Division in 2017 in Los Angeles, missed the 2018 event in Tampa due to illness and helped the Metropolitan Division win its second event title in three years with 3-2-5 in two games in 2019 in San Jose.
The Nashville Predators' first round selection, fourth overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, Jones was acquired by Columbus in a trade on Jan. 6, 2016. He has posted 58-192-250 and 166 penalty minutes in 507 career contests, including 43-144-187, 112 penalty minutes and is +8 in 308 games with the Blue Jackets. In 2018-19, he ranked fourth in the NHL in ice time (25:49) and led Blue Jackets defensemen in assists and points with 9-37-46 in 75 games.
Korpisalo, 25, is tied for the league lead in games played, ranks second in minutes played, third-T in wins and fifth-T in shutouts with a 17-10-4 record, 2.49 GAA, .913 SV% and two shutouts on 1,877 minutes in 32 games this season. Since November 1, he ranks second in the league in GAA (min. 12 GP), shutouts (tied), minutes and games played and fifth in SV% (min. 12 GP) with a 12-6-3 record, 2.11 GAA, .926 SV%, two shutouts and 1,307 minutes in 22 outings. He has posted points in a career-best nine-straight games (6-0-3) with a 1.72 GAA, .942 SV% and a shutout since December 9.
The Pori, Finland native has already set single-season career highs in wins, shutouts, minutes played and games played after posting a 16-11-4 record with a 2.60 GAA, .920 SV% on 1,803 minutes in 31 games with the Jackets as a rookie in 2015-16. Columbus' third round pick, 62nd overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft, Korpisalo is 58-41-13 with a 2.78 GAA, .908 SV% and three shutouts in 122 career games with the club. The 6-3, 191-pound netminder was selected for his first NHL All-Star Game.
Foligno, 33, has posted 4-10-14 and 41 penalty minutes, while averaging 17:43 of ice time in 36 games this season. He was the Ottawa Senators' first round selection, 28th overall, in the 2006 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Blue Jackets on July 1, 2012. He has notched 190-259-449 and 716 penalty minutes in 877 career NHL games, including 129-172-301 in 526 appearances with Columbus. The Buffalo, New York native recorded 1-1-2 as captain of Team Foligno in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game at Nationwide Arena in Columbus.
It marks the third time in the past four seasons (2017, 2019, 2020) and fourth in the last six campaigns (2015, 2017, 2019, 2020) that the club has had multiple players selected to the NHL All-Star Game. The following Blue Jackets have also been selected to participate in the NHL All-Star Game: right wing Cam Atkinson (2017, 2019), defenseman Zach Werenski (2018), goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky (2017 and 2015; missed game due to injury), left wing Brandon Saad (2016), center Ryan Johansen (2015, voted game's Most Valuable Player), left wing Rick Nash (2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011), left wing Ray Whitney (2003) and center Espen Knutsen (2002).
Back for the second-straight season, the 2020 NHL All-Star Last Men In presented by adidas will allow fans to select four players from a list of 31 All-Star caliber players - one from each NHL team (determined by the League's Hockey Operations Department). The highest vote-getters by division then will be added to their respective All-Star rosters. Voting for the Last Men In opens Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 12 p.m. ET and closes Friday, Jan. 10, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Fans can vote on NHL.com/Vote or the NHL app. The All-Stars will take part in a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format, and featuring four teams representing each NHL division. Each division's roster consists of nine skaters and two goalies.
Live television coverage of the League's midseason showcase includes the 2020 NHL All-Star Skills Competition, which will be broadcast live by NBCSN in the U.S. on Friday, January 24 at 8 p.m. ET. The 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game® will be televised live on NBC in the U.S. at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 25.
