COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets trimmed their training camp roster by 17 players, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. There are now currently 36 players in camp - 23 forwards, 11 defensemen and two goaltenders.

The following players were assigned to the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' American League affiliate: forwards Paul Bittner and Jordan Maletta, defensemen Ryan Collins, Jacob Graves, Blake Siebenaler and Doyle Somerby along with goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks. In addition, forward Alex Broadhurst and defensemen Andre Benoit and Cameron Gaunce have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Cleveland. The Jackets have also released the following players from their tryout contracts - forwards Carter Camper, Brett Gallant, Miles Koules and Bobby MacIntyre, defenseman Scott Savage and goaltenders Ivan Kulbakov and Brad Thiessen.
The Blue Jackets, who are 1-3-1 in the preseason, return to action tonight when they host the St. Louis Blues. Game time at Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on BlueJackets.com, FOX Sports Go as well as 1460 ESPN in Columbus.
The Blue Jackets will kick off their 17th NHL season on Friday, October 6 against the New York Islanders at Nationwide Arena.
