Tommy Cross, Player Development Coach
Tommy Cross joined the Columbus Blue Jackets as a development coach in August 2023.
Cross played 12 seasons of professional hockey before retiring following the 2022-23 season. He recorded 56 goals and 174 assists for 230 points and 646 penalty minutes in 588 career AHL games with the Springfield Thunderbirds, Providence Bruins and Cleveland Monsters from 2011-23. He served as a captain or alternate in each of his final seven full AHL seasons, including as an alternate captain for Columbus' AHL affiliate, Cleveland, in 2018-19.
The former defenseman also collected an assist in three career NHL games with the Boston Bruins in 2015-16. He was selected by Boston in the second round, 35th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft.
The Simsbury, Connecticut native played college hockey at Boston College and totaled 17-43-60 and 171 penalty minutes in 134 career games from 2008-12. He helped the Eagles capture NCAA championships in 2010 and 2012.
Cross and his wife, Alaina, are the parents of sons, Bowen and Baylor. The family resides in Middletown, Rhode Island.
