Jordan Binnington's mask for the 2022 Discover NHL Winter Classic in Minnesota will feature two legendary St. Louis Blues goaltenders.
Glenn Hall, who started the Blues' first game on Oct. 11, 1967 against the Minnesota North Stars, will be featured on the right side of Binnington's mask. Hall was selected by the Blues in the NHL Expansion Draft in 1967 and played in 140 career games over four seasons in St. Louis from 1967-71. Hall won three Vezina Trophies as the League's top goaltender, won the Stanley Cup in 1961, started 502 consecutive games (an NHL goaltending record) and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.
On the left side is Mike Liut, who played 347 regular-season games with the Blues from 1979-85 and ranks first in team history in games played (347), wins (151) and minutes played (19,973) by a goaltender.
Oh… and there's something else about Liut.

"He's actually my agent," Binnington told stlouisblues.com. "So I figured on top of the percentage I give him from my salary, I should also showcase him a little bit and give him some love."

Binnington's Winter Classic mask will feature a style that's already familiar to Blues fans. The two large Blue Notes that have appeared on his masks in recent years are back, although this time it's the original Blue Note that the team wore during its inaugural season. The mask also features this year's Winter Classic logo and the vintage blues, yellows and creme colors that make up the team's jersey for the outdoor game, which will be played on Jan. 1 against the Minnesota Wild at Target Field in Minneapolis (6 p.m. CT, TNT, 101 ESPN).
The mask was designed by David Gunnarsson, whose company - DaveArt - creates masks for many of the goalies currently playing in the NHL.

Binnington, Husso reveal Winter Classic gear

"The design is pretty clean," Binnington said of his outdoor game look, which also features a new glove, blocker and pads in vintage colors. "It's the same style, but different. I think it looks really clean."
The 2022 NHL Winter Classic will be Binnington's first outdoor game. Jake Allen played for the Blues in the 2017 NHL Winter Classic at Busch Stadium.
"As the game is getting closer and you're seeing stuff on social media about it, I'm really starting to get excited," Binnington said. "I saw the stadium reveal video (the other day), and seeing that was good. I've definitely got some excitement going."
