Blues acquire Leddy, Witkowski from Red Wings

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has acquired defensemen Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski from the Detroit Red Wings.
In exchange, the Blues sent defenseman Jake Walman, forward Oskar Sundqvist and a 2023 second-round draft pick to Detroit.

Leddy, 31, has made 55 appearances for the Red Wings this season, collecting 16 points (one goal, 15 assists) and 16 penalty minutes.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Leddy is currently in his 12th NHL season. Between stints with Chicago, New York (Islanders) and the Red Wings, the 6-foot, 206-pound defenseman has totaled 352 points (66 goals, 286 assists) and 161 penalty minutes in 831 career regular-season games. Leddy has also appeared in the postseason nine times during his career, including 2013 when he helped the Chicago Blackhawks capture the Stanley Cup.
Overall, he's tallied 33 points (seven goals, 26 assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 121 career playoff games.

Witkowski, 31, has spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, posting seven points (three goals, four assists) and 62 penalty minutes in 44 games. A native of Holland, Michigan, Witkowski has played in 132 career NHL regular-season games, recording 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) and 162 penalty minutes overall.
Sundqvist, 27, has spent the past five seasons with the Blues after the team acquired him via trade from Pittsburgh on June 23, 2017. Overall, he has posted 87 points (36 goals, 51 assists) and 96 penalty minutes in 270 career regular-season games.
Walman, 26, was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry draft. In three seasons with the Blues, he recorded eight points (four goals, four assists) and 14 penalty minutes in 57 regular-season games.
