BLUES
The St. Louis Blues would probably like a do-over on their home opener, but they're not going to get one.
"Nope. We don't get a second crack at that," Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said. "We just get Game 2 and a chance to bounce back [Saturday]."
"We had some chances, I still think we need to find ways to be better offensively," Brayden Schenn said of Thursday's season-opening 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. "We're getting shots, but we have to find ways to create even more scoring opportunities."
There's a chance Joel Edmundson could return Saturday. Yeo said the plan is to have him take the morning skate with the team and go from there. Robert Bortuzzo, who served the final game of a preseason suspension on Thursday, could also return to the lineup.
The Blues will be wearing their Heritage jerseys for the first time this season. The jerseys will be featured during every Saturday night home game at Enterprise Center.
BLACKHAWKS
Patrick Kane scored 38 seconds into overtime Thursday to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators in their season opener.
"When you've got [Kane], you know he's going to find a way to get something going," Blackhawks Head Coach Joel Quenneville told NHL.com after the win.
Chicago finished 33-39-10 last season, missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
Many of the names you know are back again this season, like Kane, Jonathan Toews, Brandon Saad, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. New additions include forward Chris Kunitz, defenseman Brandon Manning and goalie Cam Ward, who is starting in place of Corey Crawford, who has been out since Dec. 23 of last season wtih an injury. Crawford is practicing with the team and is eyeing a return soon.
