ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has recalled defenseman Matt Kessel from its AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, under emergency conditions.

Marco Scandella left Saturday's game in Nashville with a lower-body injury in the third period, so Kessel will be available to play Sunday when the Blues host the Boston Bruins at 2:30 p.m. at Enterprise Center.
Kessel, 22, was drafted by the Blues in the fifth round (No. 150 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
This season, the Phoenix, Arizona, native leads the Thunderbirds' defense with 31 points (five goals, 26 assists) through 66 games.
Overall, Kessel has totaled 34 points (five goals, 29 assists) and 72 penalty minutes in 81 career AHL appearances.
