During a TV timeout in the first period Tuesday, the Blues played a video tribute to Perron on the scoreboard that lasted more than 90 seconds and had both teams standing to take it all in.
Perron could be seen getting emotional while watching before waving to the St. Louis crowd, which was giving him a standing ovation. He also appeared to be choked up while lining up for the ensuing face-off to resume play.
"Just a surreal moment that I don't think I've ever thought I would get to this point," Perron said after the game. "These fans are unbelievable, and it means a lot. Honestly, I had to just try and stay composed for a bit there. Barely did it."
"(It was) don't cry, basically," he added. "I don't know, all the memories from watching the video a little bit from the start to now basically, and having the chance to go through that with every single person that I encountered over the years was special."
Perron was drafted by the Blues in 2007 and compiled 465 points (196 goals, 269 assists) in 673 games with the club from 2007-13, 2016-17 and 2018-22. He was part of the team that captured the Stanley Cup in St. Louis in 2019, posting seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in 26 playoff games.
