Edmundson placed on IR with broken forearm

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that Blues defenseman Joel Edmundson has undergone successful surgery after suffering a broken right forearm during the first period of the Blues 6-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.

Edmundson's surgery was performed by Dr. Charles Goldfarb, Dr. Rick Wright and Dr. Matt Smith of Washington University Orthopedics and Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Edmundson has been placed on injured reserve and will be re-evaluated in six weeks.
In addition, the Blues announced they have recalled defenseman Chris Butler from the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.

Edmundson, 24, has dressed in 56 games this season, setting a new career high with six goals and tying a career-best with 15 points. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound defenseman is currently in his third season with the Blues after the club drafted him in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft. Overall, the Brandon, Manitoba native has collected 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) and 176 penalty minutes in 192 career regular season games.
Butler, 31, has appeared in 47 games for the Rampage this season, leading the team's defense with 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists). A native of St. Louis, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman has amassed 84 points (13 goals, 71 assists) in 388 career NHL regular season games, including stints with Buffalo, Calgary and St. Louis.
