After two seasons as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues, Jim Montgomery is heading to Boston to become the next head coach of the Boston Bruins.
"'Monty' was a great member of our staff and I appreciate his time and efforts with our players," Blues Head Coach Craig Berube told stlouisblues.com. "This is well-deserved and I wish him well with the Bruins."

"I'd like to thank Jim and his family for his commitment and contributions to the Blues organization," added General Manager Doug Armstrong. "Jim is going to a storied franchise and we wish him all the best in Boston."
Montgomery originally joined Berube's coaching staff in September 2020. Prior to coaching with the Blues, he served as the head coach of the Dallas Stars and helped lead the University of Denver to consecutive Final Four appearances and a national championship during the 2015-16 season.
Montgomery was undrafted as a player but signed with the Blues as a free agent, making his NHL debut during the 1993-94 season. In 67 games with St. Louis, he posted six goals and 14 assists (20 points).
