BLUES AT ISLANDERS

TEAM SNAPSHOTS

BLUES David Perron extended his career-best point streak to 11 games with a goal, Ivan Barbashev, Vince Dunn and Vladimir Tarasenko scored and Jake Allen made 28 saves to give the Blues a convincing win against the defending champion Washington Capitals on Monday night.
The win was the Blues' third straight, and it moved them to within three points of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
"We're doing good things. We're playing a lot more consistent," Blues forward Ryan O'Reilly said. "It's nice we're back at it (Tuesday) and have to keep it going… We're taking it one at a time. Every game is different and we've got to have our staples of working hard and showing up the right way, and we have been…. We're just working, working together and doing the right things at the right times and it's paying off."
The Blues have won five of their last seven games overall and six of their last seven road games.
"They're gaining confidence game-to-game here," Blues Head Coach Craig Berube said of his club. "They feel good about each other, they're working for each other. That's the key - playing for each other, doing the right things and putting the team first."
ISLANDERS The New York Islanders scored three goals in the first 4:43 of Sunday's game and earned a 5-1 win against the League-leading Tampa Bay Lightning at Barclays Center.
It was just the second loss for Tampa Bay in the last 12 games.
"To beat a team like that of their caliber, it definitely speaks to the character in this room," Islanders forward Casey Cizikas told NHL.com after the game.
The Islanders are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and have climbed into a playoff position, holding the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
"We have four solid lines. On any given night, I think any line can propel us to a win," said Islanders forward Matt Martin. "… We just want to continue to get better, continue to work at it. The more we can produce offensively, the better."
HEAD-TO-HEAD The Islanders won the first matchup with the Blues this season, taking a 4-3 win at Enterprise Center on Jan. 5. Tuesday's game will be the second and final regular season meeting between the clubs.
The Blues split the season series with the Islanders in 2017-18 and have earned points in four of their last five meetings in New York.
In the last three meetings, the Blues have killed all nine Islanders' power-play attempts.
Tarasenko has 11 points in his last 10 games against the Islanders (seven goals, four assists).
