ST. LOUIS - On Tuesday morning, Jordan Schmaltz was recalled from the San Antonio Rampage after news broke that Alex Pietrangelo would be placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
Schmaltz won't have much time to get ready. With Jay Bouwmeester dealing with a nagging injury, Schmaltz will take his spot in the lineup tonight when the Blues meet the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. at Scottrade Center (NBCSN, NBC Sports App, KMOX 1120 AM).

"The reports we have gotten about (Schmaltz) have been really positive. He's been playing really well both with and without the puck," Yeo said. "What an opportunity. You come up, you might as well get thrown in there with the best in the League. He's been playing huge minutes, playing in all roles, and I'm expecting him to play a real confident game tonight."
Bouwmeester skated on Tuesday morning but
it was decided after practice that he wouldn't be able to play
. Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said it was a day-to-day situation.
The Blues will go up against the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference tonight without Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo and Jaden Schwartz. Carter Hutton (lower-body) skated this morning but also won't be in the lineup.

"Injuries are part of the game. What do you do?" Yeo said. "You find a way to step up and make sure the guys that are in the lineup are ready to go and you find a way to dig in and play your team game a little bit better… As hockey players and as competitors, we always love a challenge. We're missing some guys tonight, but as competitors, you have to get excited about that challenge."
