"Yeah, there's a good chance (he will play)," Blues Head Coach Craig Berube told reporters after an optional morning skate on Tuesday at TD Garden. "We'll see how he is at game time."
Krug's potential return would be a boost for a team that already seems to be firing on all cylinders. The Blues have points in eight consecutive games (7-0-1) and have won five straight entering Tuesday's matchup with the Boston Bruins, which begins at 6 p.m CT (BSMWX, Bally Sports App, 101 ESPN).
"(It would be) an emotional one for him," Ryan O'Reilly said of Krug possibly making his return in Boston. "He adds so much to our lineup, the plays he makes, the way he competes, he does so many good things for us. To have him back is something we've all been looking forward to and (can be) excited about."
"It's huge for our group," added Robert Bortuzzo. "Great leader, on and off the ice. High-end hockey IQ, can play in all situations. Just a major welcome addition for our group."
Berube did not commit to returning Krug to his usual pairing with Justin Faulk - a spot that has been occupied by Nick Leddy as of late. Pregame warm-ups will provide a better indication of where Krug will fit in the lineup if he indeed returns on Tuesday.
