Sammy Blais has been nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy by the St. Louis chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.
The award is given annually to the NHL player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey."

Blais started his career with the St. Louis Blues but went to the New York Rangers in a trade that sent Pavel Buchnevich to St. Louis in July 2021. In his first season with the Rangers, Blais suffered a torn ACL in November that required surgery and ended his season.
He was back on the ice for the 2022-23 season and returned to the Blues in February in the trade that sent Vladimir Tarasenko to New York. Since the trade, Blais has set a new season career high with nine goals in just 29 games. He also has added 11 assists with St. Louis.
Overall, Blais - a 2014 sixth-round draft pick of the Blues - has played in 202 NHL games, posting 26 goals and 38 assists (64 points).
Only two Blues have won the Masterton Trophy since it was first awarded following the 1967-68 season: Jamie McLennan (1998) and Blake Dunlop (1981).
Recent winners of the Masterton Trophy include Carey Price (2022), Oskar Lindblom (2021), Bobby Ryan (2020) and Robin Lehner (2019).
The 2023 NHL Awards will be held on Monday, June 26 in Nashville.
