For the better part of the last three decades, the St. Louis Blues have built their teams around their defense.
From Chris Pronger and Al MacInnis in the 90's to more recent names like Alex Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester - who helped the team capture its first Stanley Cup in 2019 - the blueline has always been stout in St. Louis.
But this season - despite having another solid defense - the Blues have gone on the offensive.

Goal-scoring has propelled the club to a season-best nine-game winning streak, two shy of their franchise record of 11 set in the 2018-19 season. The team has also captured points in 12 consecutive games, going 11-0-1 en route to clinching a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and climbing into second in the Central Division, which would provide home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs if they can fend off the red-hot Minnesota Wild.
Here are some other crazy stats about the Blues' offense you might be shocked to know:
- St. Louis has scored at least four goals in 12 straight contests during their point streak. It's the longest streak of four or more goals in the NHL since the Pittsburgh Penguins reached 15 games during the 1992-93 season.
- The
Blues scored seven goals in the second period on April 17 in Nashville
, which set a franchise record for the most goals in a single period. The previous record - six - was accomplished three times but hadn't been for more than a decade. The Blues became the first team in more than eight years to score seven goals in a period on the road - the New York Islanders last did it on March 10, 2014.
- Robert Thomas is leading the way offensively with a point streak of 13 straight games - a career-best and the longest active streak in the League. During that stretch, Thomas has six goals and 19 assists (25 points). The 22-year-old is having a breakout season, posting 73 points in 66 games.

  • Vladimir Tarasenko has scored goals in five straight games and has set a new career high with 76 points on the season, surpassing his previous high of 75 set in 2016-17. Tarasenko has points in six straight games, netting eight goals and seven assists (15 points) in that stretch. On April 18,
Tarasenko was named the NHL's First Star of the Week
    .
    - Pavel Buchnevich has points in 10 consecutive games, extending his own career-high. In that stretch, Buchnevich has six goals and 12 assists and has the second-longest active point streak in the League behind Thomas.
    -
Seven Blues have reached the 20-goal milestone
this season, the most since the 1984-85 season. Thomas (18) and Ryan O'Reilly (17) could hit that mark before the season's end. The team's franchise record for most 20-goal scorers in a season is 10 and was set during the 1980-81 season.
    - The Blues' power play is currently second in the League at 26.7 percent - the highest mark in franchise history at the end of a season was 24.6 percent, which was set in 1986-87.
    - The Blues rank fourth overall in the NHL with 286 goals this season, trailing only the Florida Panthers (314), Toronto Maple Leafs (293) and the Colorado Avalanche (290).
