Tarasenko, who was close to returning to the lineup in mid-March when the NHL paused its season due to the coronavirus pandemic, has been back on the ice for Phase 2 workouts in recent weeks and skated - without restriction - for the first session of training camp on Monday.
Tarasenko left the Oct. 24 game vs. Los Angeles with a shoulder injury and underwent surgery five days later. He was expected to need five months for rehabilitation.
Before the injury, Tarasenko had three goals and seven assists (10 points) in 10 games.
"I got some extra time for recovery and practice to make (the shoulder) more strong," Tarasenko said after a Phase 2 practice. "Everything is good. You start slow, you start with the basics, do some exercises where you remember the feeling."
Tarasenko will now be eligible to return on Aug. 2, when the Blues meet the Colorado Avalanche in the first game of the resumed campaign.
