WASHINGTON - Five Habs prospects concluded 2022 on the ice at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Switzerland 4 - Slovakia 3 (OT)
Twenty shots were required to determine the winner in a shootout. Before scoring in the SO, Filip Mesar set up two goals for the Slovaks, pivoting in the neutral zone and sending Servac Petrovsky on breakaway on his second tally of the game.

The Habs prospect finished the tilt with three shots on goal and a plus-2 differential in 19:15 on the ice.
USA 6 - Finland 2
Defenseman Lane Hutson capped off a 6-2 win over the Finns by scoring the Americans' final goal, sending a shot between the legs of Aku Koskenvuo.

Drafted by the Canadiens in 2022, the rearguard registered a plus-3 differential and played 15:24.
On the other end, captain Oliver Kapanen recorded three shots and a differential of minus-1. He spent 18:19 on the ice.
Canada 5 - Sweden 1
Joshua Roy scored the first of five goals for Canada en route to a convincing win over Sweden. The Habs prospect led all Canadian forwards in ice time at 19:35 and had four shots on goal. He maintained a plus-3 differential.
Meanwhile, defenseman Adam Engstrom ended the night with a differential of zero and two shots on goal in 17:52 on the ice.

No games are scheduled on New Year's Day. The quarterfinals are set to begin on Monday, January 2.
