MONTREAL -- 91.9 Sports announced Friday the signing of a five-year partnership agreement with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League (AHL). The organization is the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate and will play its inaugural season in Laval in 2017-18.

Under this agreement, 91.9 Sports will broadcast all the team's regular season and playoff games beginning in September 2017 through the conclusion of the 2020-21 season. All Rocket home games will be played at Place Bell in Laval.
All of the station's talent will contribute to coverage of the Rocket. The AHL team is playing its final season in St. John's, NL, under the name of the Ice Caps, and is led by head coach Sylvain Lefebvre. A number of players on its roster are already familiar to Canadiens fans, including Sven Andrighetto, named the American Hockey League Player of the Week last week, along with Michael McCarron, Mark Barberio, Charles Hudon and Daniel Audette.
"This is a unique opportunity to offer our listeners the pleasure of discovering high-calibre hockey. This partnership will inspire all of the 91.9 Sports talent, who welcome the announcement with pride," explained Yves Bombardier, Vice-President, Programming and Information, at RNC MEDIA and General Manager of 91.9 Sports.
Mario Cecchini, President and General Manager of RNC MEDIA, added, "This partnership with the Rocket is another step forward in positioning 91.9 Sports as a station that offers new shows and diversity to Montreal, Laval and Quebec listeners."
In addition to broadcasting Laval Rocket games, 91.9 Sports will be committed to following the team's daily activities and conducting regular interviews with the team's players and members to better connect them to listeners through all of its programming. This major promotional partnership will take place both on the air and during games at Place Bell.
"We are very pleased and proud to have signed this agreement with the 91.9 Sports team. The station's listeners are big sports fans, and this partnership will offer them exciting coverage of the Laval Rocket. Through this partnership our future fans will be able to closely follow the daily progress of the players of the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate team," said Vincent Lucier, President of Place Bell.
