Romanov received the most votes in the race for the Jacques Beauchamp-Molson Trophy, earning 46 points in the overall standings. He finished ahead of teammates Samuel Montembeault (33 points) and Jake Evans (28 points).
In his second NHL campaign, Romanov established himself in the team's defensive squad with three goals and ten assists in 79 games\. The native of Moscow, Russia, led the team this season with 225 hits, good for sixth among defensemen in the league, and 142 blocked shots. He also finished first on the team with 202:28 of shorthanded ice time. The 6-foot-1, 209 lbs defenseman also skated in his 100th career NHL game on February 17 against the St. Louis Blues (\Stats as of April 28).
Created in 1981 to honor the memory of the legendary sportswriter who spent most of his professional career covering the Canadiens, the Jacques Beauchamp-Molson Trophy was first awarded to Doug Jarvis following the 1981-82 season.
